GIVE SPACE?

ギブスペースとは？What it means

人と自然の分断が進む世界。人間の文明によって生態系のバランスが崩れ、めぐりめぐって社会に暗い影を落としている。

科学の発展＝人の幸せとは言えない深刻な状況。でも、次の一歩に踏み出せないでいるのはなぜだろう？ それはわたしたちが互いに、そして他の生き物たちからSPACEを奪い合ってきたから。

他の生き物の生息地にはじまり、地政学的にも、思考や感情、スピリットの面でも、それぞれがそれぞれらしくあるために必要なSPACEを奪い取ってきた。

わたしたちらしくあるためのSPACEがないと、他者への想像力は阻害され、自分への信頼さえも揺らぎはじめる。だからこそ、わたしたちはSPACEを返す必要がある。他の生き物や周囲の人々、そして自分自身に対しても。

GIVE SPACEの実践は、コンパッション（思いやり）そのもの。他者、そして「わたし」にとっての必要なSPACEを理解し、それを返すことで、わたしたちは生態系の中でバランスのとれたあり方へと近づいていく。

The divide between humanity and nature deepens. Human economic activity disrupts ecological balance, casting long shadows over our society.

We're living the reality that scientific progress no longer guarantees our happiness. Yet why can't we take the next step forward? We believe it's because we've taken SPACE away — from each other and from other living beings.

Ecologically, geopolitically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually — we've deprived ourselves and others of the SPACE needed simply to be. When we don't have SPACE to be ourselves, we lose our capacity for presence.

Our imagination for others becomes blocked. Even trust in ourselves begins to shake. So we give back SPACE — SPACE to be ourselves. We return SPACE to other beings and to those around us.

This practice of GIVING SPACE is compassion itself. By understanding what SPACE is needed — for ourselves, for others — and by returning that SPACE, we move toward balanced ways of being within the ecosystem.

Value前提と価値観Underlying assumptions

  1. Compassion Compassion

    問題解決ではなく、自分の生命と他の生命への慈愛の表現が出発点。これが真のパラダイムシフトを導く。

    Our starting point is not solving problems, but expressing compassion — for our own lives and all life. This is what creates true paradigm shift.

  2. Life-Centered Life-Centered

    他の生き物に土地を返すことで、人間の文明は恩恵にあずかり、未来へのいのちが紡がれる。

    When we return land to other beings, human civilization benefits and life weaves itself toward the future.

  3. Art as Process Art as Process

    土地利用を通じた慈愛の表現＝アート。どのように意識を保ち、どのような行動を選択するか、プロセスそのものが文化を再生する。

    Land use as an expression of compassion is art. How we hold our awareness, what actions we choose — the process itself regenerates culture.

  4. Stewardship Stewardship

    人類はエコシステム・エンジニアであり、ハイパーキーストーン種として地球をケアする役割を持つ。

    As ecosystem engineers and a hyper-keystone species, we bear responsibility for caring for Earth.

  5. Inner Regeneration Inner Regeneration

    外的な生態系再生は、心・感情・精神という人間固有の内的空間の再生から始まる。

    Ecological regeneration begins within — in the distinctly human realms of heart, emotion, and spirit.

Ecological Artist

エコロジカルアーティスト。ベルリン在住。働き方、住む土地、時間、お金、アイデンティティ、都市、地球エコシステムーー人間社会を構成するさまざまな要素と人間との関係性について実験し、生き方そのものをアート作品にする。近年は南アフリカへ通い、彼女のアートテーマ「人間という動物」が地球で果たすべき役割は、他の生き物に土地を還すことだと発見し、「GIVE SPACEアーバンデザイン」を創始。映像作品「Journey to Lioness」ディレクター。

Naho traveled to South Africa to search for an emerging role of the "Human Animal" to serve the ecosystem — which is the core of her artwork. From that inquiry came Give Space, an urban-design approach that returns space to other-than-human beings and reimagines human social, economic, and environmental life in regenerative terms. Director of a video piece, "Journey to Lioness."

1981年大阪府池田市生まれ。大阪大学大学院にて人間科学の修士を取得。人材開発ベンチャー企業、公益財団法人日本生産性本部を経て、2011年にNPO法人ミラツクを設立。セクター、職種、領域を超えたイノベーションプラットフォームの構築と、大手企業の新領域事業開発支援・研究開発プロジェクト立ち上げの支援、未来構想の設計、未来潮流の探索などに取り組む。2021年に株式会社エッセンスを設立。知のアクセスを実現するKnowledge Tech企業として、知の情報化・資本化・民主化に取り組む。大阪大学社会ソリューションイニシアティブ招聘教授。

Born in 1981 in Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture. Earned a Master's degree in Human Sciences from the Graduate School of Osaka University. After working at a human resource development venture company and the Japan Productivity Center, he founded the NPO Miratsuku in 2011, building cross-sector innovation platforms and supporting major corporations in new business development and R&D. In 2021, he founded Essence Inc. Visiting Professor, Social Solution Initiative, Osaka University.

Artist / Plants Director / Ph.D (Agriculture), Founder, Rokkakukei LLC.

千葉大学大学院園芸学研究科博士課程修了。生命科学系のバックグラウンドからアカデミックな側面を生かしプランツディレクターとしての活動を開始。2015年に室内緑化ツールとして、多肉植物の魅力を再現したクッション【Tanicushion®】を発表。現在は「植物とヒトの関係性」の再構築、都市における土と植物の重要性を研究しながら、ネイチャーポジティブな都市環境の構築を目指し活動している。大阪・関西万博のシグネチャーパビリオン「いのちめぐる冒険」にて作品《無限メタモルフォーゼ》を展示。

Completed a doctoral program at the Graduate School of Horticulture, Chiba University. In 2015, she launched Tanicushion®, a cushion recreating the charm of succulents. She researches the reconstruction of the relationship between plants and humans, and the importance of soil and plants in urban environments, while continuing artistic practice. Her work "Infinite Metamorphosis" is exhibited at the Osaka–Kansai Expo signature pavilion.

早稲田大学商学部、ボストン大学大学院ジャーナリズム学科卒。花王を経て、2000年に株式会社ロフトワークを起業、2022年まで代表取締役・会長を務める。退任後、「地方と都市の新たな関係性をつくる」ことを目的とし、2022年9月9日に株式会社Q0を設立。主な経歴に、グッドデザイン賞審査委員、経済産業省産業構造審議会など。株式会社飛騨の森でクマは踊る（ヒダクマ）取締役会長も務める。

Graduated from Waseda University's School of Commerce and Boston University's Graduate School of Journalism. After working at Kao Corporation, founded Loftwork Inc. in 2000 and served as CEO and Chairperson until 2022. Established Q0 Inc. in September 2022, with the mission of creating new relationships between urban and rural areas. Also serves as Chairperson of the Board at Hidakuma Inc.

慶應義塾大学総合政策学部卒。金融・データ分析、事業開発・アクティベーション、経営企画、投資・ファンド運営などを横断的に経験し、上場企業およびベンチャー企業において新規事業開発やM&A、事業再編に携わる。その後、不動産・都市領域を軸に、空き家や遊休不動産の再生、エリア価値の再構築、社会課題解決型の事業づくりを推進。Give Space Urban Designでは、人間中心で設計されてきた都市構造を問い直し、人間以外の生き物を含む生態系へ空間を還すという思想を、都市・建築・不動産・事業の実践へと翻訳する役割を担う。

Graduated from the Faculty of Policy Management at Keio University. With cross-disciplinary experience spanning finance, business development, corporate planning, and fund management, he later shifted his focus to the urban and real estate domain, promoting the regeneration of vacant houses and underutilized properties. At Give Space Urban Design, he translates the philosophy of returning space to ecosystems into concrete practices across urban design, architecture, real estate, and business.

This organization develops, disseminates, and applies the GIVE SPACE Urban Design Methodology. By promoting regenerative thinking and biophilic design, it aims to bring about system change among a wide range of decision-making stakeholders, contributing to ecosystem restoration and the well-being of plants, animals, and humans as animals.

2013

「人間という動物」というアートテーマをもとに参加型社会実験を実施（ドイツ・ベルリンへ移住）

2016–2020

「人間という動物が生態系において果たすべき役割はなにか？」という問いを探求するため、南アフリカのケビン・リチャードソン・ワイルドライフ・サンクチュアリにて、ライオン保護、自然環境保護のボランティア活動実施

2018

「Biodiver-City Hack」というGive Space Urban Designの前身となるプロジェクトをベルリンで始動。草の根アーバンデザインコミュニティNION Berlinにて、バイオフィリックデザインを使ったワークショップやリチュアルデザインを提供。大阪芸術大学のアート・サイエンスメディアbound bawにて記事寄稿
